All of the programs on offer at SSBTS are administered via distance education. On acceptance into a program, you will be paired with a mentor who will walk with you through the duration of your program. If you have questions during your program, you should contact your mentor.

SSBTS offers research-based Bachelor, Master and Doctor of Theology programs and a Doctor of Ministry program. Each of these programs requires significant research and the writing of an original thesis or dissertation on a theological topic chosen by the student and approved by his/her seminary mentor. Additionally, each student is required to find two qualified readers of his/her thesis or dissertation. These readers, in conjunction with your seminary mentor, will decide whether a thesis or dissertation meets the requirements for the issuing of a degree.
Bachelor of Theology (BTh)
- High school diploma required for admission.
- If a student has not completed the certificate or diploma program through SSBTS, s/he will be required to take those programs before being admitted into the Bachelor of Theology program.
- The Bachelor of Theology program requires the submission of an original thesis of no fewer than 30,000 words.
Master of Theology (MTh)
- Bachelors degree (in any subject) required for admission.
- If a student wishes to major in either Old Testament, New Testament or Biblical Interpretation, s/he will be required to take the Biblical Greek and/or Hebrew courses (depending on subject matter) provided in the diploma program unless already taken elsewhere or at SSBTS.
- The Master of Theology program requires the submission of an original thesis of no fewer than 40,000 words.
Doctor of Theology (DTh)
- Masters degree (in any subject) required for admission.
- If a student wishes to major in either Old Testament, New Testament or Biblical Interpretation, s/he will be required to take the Biblical Greek and/or Hebrew courses (depending on subject matter) provided in the diploma program unless already taken elsewhere or at SSBTS.
- The Doctor of Theology program requires the submission of an original dissertation of no fewer than 50,000 words.
Doctor of Ministry (DMin)
- Masters degree (in a theological field) and at least three years full time ministry required for admission.
- Designed more for praxis-oriented focus than the Doctor of Theology.
- The Doctor of Ministry program requires the development and implementation of an original ministry program and a dissertation on the development and implementation of said program of no fewer than 20,000 words.
